Career and Technology Studies
Career and Technology Studies (CTS) is an optional program designed for Alberta's secondary school students. CTS helps junior and senior high school students to:
develop skills they can apply in daily living now and in the future
investigate career options and make effective career choices
use technology (processes, tools and techniques) effectively and efficiently
apply and reinforce learnings developed in other subject areas
prepare for entry into the workplace or further learning.

$4.5 Million CTS Call for Proposals
A plan to revise and refocus the CTS program is underway. The plan identifies opportunities and a process for a more focused program based on credible learner career pathways.

The CTS curriculum is organized into 22 strands. Each strand represents a group of courses designed to support broad career and occupational opportunities. Courses are the building blocks for each strand, and defines what a student is expected to know and be able to do.

Curriculum Handbooks for Parents and Curriculum Summaries – find a summary of what students are expected to learn and be able to do – designed specifically for parents.
